from 2 to 6 prisoners.
1st and 2st generation.
Thriller.
The first adventure played with the hosts of Fox in a Box. We are still in Florence and this is the second stage of our iTopissimi Toscana 2021 Tour. To welcome us Simone, who will be our Master in both adventures that we will play with them.
Once in the room, it seems that time has come back and we were catapulted into the 1960s. The scenography and furnishings perfectly reflect the style of the period. There is nothing shocking about that room, yet I don’t know why, but if I had to imagine the house of a serial killer, I would have imagined it exactly like this. This feeling accompanied me throughout the game. Not scary, but certainly annoying.
I saw the film about ten years ago and it didn’t impress me very much. Out of curiosity, I went to see him again after playing Zodiac and I was surprised; also with regard to this room, the historical accuracy found in it is surprising. As usual, I cannot be more precise in the description to avoid the risk of spoilers; I can say, however, that I greatly appreciated the fidelity of the puzzles to the true story.
With this, I don’t want to delude you that seeing the film gives you more chances to get out. Absolutely not. Indeed, the room is very playable even without the slightest idea who the killer of the zodiac was. In fact, Xand had never seen it before and I had a very faded memory of it. This is a fairly common principle in escape rooms; until today we haven’t yet found a room that requires in advanced knowledge of the history on which it is based or from which it takes its reminder.
However, I believe that the charm of the game also stays in the ability to represent that particular story as faithfully as possible, and in this, Fox in a box never ceases to surprise with its re-enactments.
No timer; the time count comes through cards dropped from the door. This reminds me a lot of the style of the zodiac killer: he contacted the newspapers and the police by means of letters, postcards and cards.
The logic of the room is not always linear. As a style, I would say that it falls into a mix between the first and second generation, in which the first is more predominant. A room difficulty level is not provided; I personally didn’t find it very easy, so I would like to recommend it to players who have already had some experience.
Fox in a Box doesn’t provide a difficulty level of the ER. In our opinion, it’s a medium.
You are captured by a serial killer. Tied up and left in his lair, escape is your only chance. His method of operation is much like one Infamous Zodiac killer had. Has the real Zodiac returned or is this his copycat? You have only 60 minutes to escape, or the next body in a morgue will be yours.
