Our Impression

Milan is, city of fashion, saffron risotto, and… a group of people who pay to be scared to death in a basement. I tried Underground Escape Milano, and let me tell you: this is not an experience for the faint of heart. And no, it’s not for those who think “survival” means braving rush-hour traffic on the Highway. This is pure adrenaline—the kind of stuff you thought only existed in Tarantino movies.

So, let’s get to the facts. There are two versions of the game: Adventure and Horror. I joined forces with the @ipiededeskin, who boldly opted for the Horror version—a choice only those with excessive self-confidence would dare make (and trust me, they can pull it off). Personally, I’m not a big fan of the genre, so if it were up to me, I wouldn’t have chosen it—and I would have been wrong!

The setting is straight out of an apocalyptic thriller: dim lighting (almost nonexistent), made even less helpful by smoke effects, creaky doors, and the occasional jump scare to make your heart leap into your throat. Forget the usual escape rooms with chessboards and cyphers to decode—here, you really have to escape! All in 75 minutes of pure paranoia, while trying to recall basic survival skills… like “breathe.” In short, an experience for those who find a typical Netflix binge too relaxing.

Motor skills are essential to navigate the room—you’ll feel like you’re back in middle school gym class. I discovered my new speciality: long jump… backwards.

Side note: This is the place where you’ll discover if your life partner is dependable or a coward who will leave you behind at the first sight of a zombie. Trust me, it’s the ultimate test—future couples, take note! (P.S. Thanks, ladies!)

A few tips: The room is available in English. Remember, clues, objects, and codes can only be used once, so after using them, let them go.

Everything was great, but I believe two things need to be addressed:

1. “Every promise is a debt”: If you claim there will be tomatoes, you can’t serve potatoes instead. Without spoiling anything, some details could use tweaking to improve the experience.
2. “If you don’t know how to smile, don’t open a shop”: It’s pointless to create such an amazing experience only to tarnish it with poor customer service. The room is relatively new, and I think detailed feedback from experienced players would have been beneficial, rather than being rushed out practically immediately, was Hallowen so, fair enough whatever. Also, the responses on social media need improvement—many have commented negatively on the public replies I received.

That said, I really enjoyed the concept of the room, which clearly benefits from international influences. With the adjustments mentioned above, it has all the potential to become one of the best experiences in Milan.

In conclusion, Underground Escape Room was the adventure I didn’t think I would enjoy, paired with terror I didn’t think I deserved. It’s perfect for anyone looking for a shot of adrenaline and an epic story to share at aperitivo with friends. Most of all, it’s ideal for testing your nerves and, if you survive, your self-esteem.

P.S.: This adventure was played without my Topissimo, as he was busy at home with another little demon of a completely different nature.
